Ministry of Education Comments on Harassment Case in Kfarshima

The media office of the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education indicated that "the ministry received a complaint from a parent regarding alarming behaviors towards some students at Emmanuel High School in Kfarshima. Upon receiving the complaint, Minister Abbas Halabi instructed the relevant administrative and technical units to take immediate action, and the Ministry of Justice was notified as per the established protocol between the two ministries."

The statement added: "Alongside the immediate legal action, the ministry conducted an administrative investigation and sent the results to the competent judiciary. Psychological and social support has also been provided to the students, with follow-up to continue in the coming weeks."

It mentioned that "Minister Halabi today assigned an administrative and technical team to go to the concerned school for follow-up." The statement noted that "the Ministry of Education is monitoring all similar cases it has been informed of, and has taken the necessary administrative and legal measures in coordination with the Ministry of Justice to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students in public and private schools. It assures parents that it is promptly and accurately addressing any complaints received via the ministry's hotline at (01772000), which operates from eight in the morning until six in the afternoon, Monday to Friday, while maintaining the caller's confidentiality and privacy. The ministry is also monitoring schools to ensure a comfortable and positive atmosphere for our children by implementing student protection policies in the school environment, both in terms of prevention and response."
