The Moroccan film "White Lie," directed by Asmae El Moudir, has won the Grand Prize "Golden Star" at the Marrakech International Film Festival, which concluded its twentieth edition on Saturday in Morocco. The film previously won Best Director in the "Un Certain Regard" section at the Cannes Film Festival in May and has been nominated by Morocco for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards, presented annually by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This marks the first time a Moroccan film has won the Grand Prize at this festival, which began its twentieth edition on November 24 and concluded on Saturday.
