American businessman and author Robert Kiyosaki predicted that the United States will become the poorest country in the world, starting now, as he stated during an interview on the show "Finance with Sharon." Kiyosaki, the author of "Rich Dad Poor Dad," conducted the podcast interview while in India for the Growth Summit in India 2023 in September. He explained the reason for his visit to Mumbai during this trip, saying, "I always go to the slums. So this time, I went to the slums in Mumbai. I look at the people and talk with them. But what shocks most people is that America has never had slums like these. Today, slums are everywhere across America."
In the hour-long interview, Kiyosaki discussed a variety of topics, including the importance of his three favorite investments. He also talked about broader subjects such as the changing dynamics of global finance and the status of the U.S. dollar as a global reserve currency. Kiyosaki often likened the U.S. dollar to "toilet paper" and referred to fiat currency as fake. While explaining his stance on paper money, he said: "Anyone working with dollars, yen, pesos, and rupees - it’s all fake. Stupid people work for these things."
To clarify how he views wealth, Kiyosaki identified gold as “God's money,” Bitcoin as “people's money,” and cash dollars as fake money. He stated: "The only way to create [cash dollars] is for someone to borrow money."
Kiyosaki owns about 60 Bitcoin, but warned cryptocurrency enthusiasts, saying, "You are messing with the federal government." Instead, he strongly advocated for investing in physical, tangible assets like gold and silver, which are liquid like gold and serve as a closer alternative.
