The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, and the EU Special Representative for the Gulf, Luigi Di Maio, during their meeting in Brussels yesterday (Monday), discussed the bilateral relations between the two sides, including the exemption of citizens from the GCC countries from the Schengen visa. They also addressed regional and international issues, as well as preparations for the high-level forum on security and regional cooperation between the Council and the EU, scheduled to take place next April.
Al-Budaiwi expressed the GCC's desire to strengthen collaborative relations with the EU to serve the interests of both parties, support and enhance stability and development in the region and the world, and develop all partnerships to tackle current challenges.
Additionally, the Secretary-General reviewed during his meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation for Relations with the Arabian Peninsula, Hannah Neumann, the relations between the two sides and mechanisms to enhance them based on their historical partnership, as well as the latest developments in regional and international issues. Al-Budaiwi highlighted the level of relationship and coordination between the GCC Secretariat and the EU institutions, including the Parliament, aimed at aligning perspectives on various topics and achieving mutual objectives for both parties.
