Warner Bros. Discovery announced today, Wednesday, a series as part of the company's plans for its Max streaming service, which combines HBO Max with Discovery programming. Through this, Harry Potter enters the world of streaming platforms with a new series based on the beloved book series by renowned author J.K. Rowling. Each season will be dedicated to one of Rowling's seven books, and the series is intended to be shown over ten years. Rowling will be an executive producer for the series and said in a statement, "I look forward to being part of this new adaptation that will allow for a degree of depth and detail that only a long-form television series can provide."
It is noteworthy that over 600 million copies of the seven Harry Potter books have been sold worldwide. The story was adapted into a film series that achieved widespread popularity, starring Daniel Radcliffe and grossing $7.7 billion globally between 2001 and 2011.
Max also announced a new series inspired by the world of "Game of Thrones," titled "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight." The story's author, George R.R. Martin, will be an executive producer for it. This series will take place 100 years before the events of "Game of Thrones." The company stated that the story will focus on a "naive yet brave young knight." Warner Bros. Discovery did not announce a release date for either series.
