Progress in the Normalization of Syrian-Arab Relations

Arab diplomatic sources revealed to the Syrian newspaper "Al-Watan" that diplomatic efforts have been made recently in preparation for the second meeting of the Arab Communication Committee, which held its first meeting in Cairo, Egypt, in August of last year. They pointed out that the war in Gaza was one of the reasons for the delay in holding the committee, along with other factors. However, the excellent atmosphere that prevailed recently, especially after the visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad to Riyadh, where he confirmed the Syrian side's readiness to attend this meeting, coupled with significant Saudi interest, contributed to advancing these efforts, resulting in a scheduled date for the committee's meeting.

The sources described Mekdad's visit to Riyadh as very successful, during which all topics relevant to joint Arab action were discussed. The Syrian side emphasized its constant commitment to enhancing Arab cooperation to confront the challenges facing the region. The sources disclosed that the second meeting of the Arab Communication Committee will be held on May 8th, suggesting the attendance of all foreign ministers of the countries involved in the committee. Expectations indicate that positive outcomes will emerge from the meeting, representing a step forward in the normalization of Syrian-Arab relations.
