Title: Girl Steals Father’s Safe After Being Prevented from Marrying; State Security Arrests Her

The General Directorate of State Security reported that (S. K.), a student at a vocational school in northern Lebanon and an orphan, fell in love with a Syrian young man and wanted to marry him. After her father rejected the idea and prevented her from marrying, he forced her to leave the vocational school out of fear of her meeting the young man she loved.

Later, her friend (E. H.), who is also a fellow student at the vocational school, visited her at home with her husband (M. H.), and they convinced her to steal her father's safe from his clothing store in Tripoli, which (S. K.) knew the secret codes to open. After planning with (M. H.) and his wife (E. H.), the latter went with (S. K.) to her father's shop under the pretext of collecting some of her belongings. They went to the upper floor where the safe was located, opened it, and (S. K.) stole $95,000. They then closed the safe and fled to an unknown location.

(S. K.) did not return to her father's house that day and turned off her cell phone. Her father filed a report at the northern regional directorate of State Security, which promptly acted. Within less than 24 hours, they were able to locate the missing girl and her instigators in a rented apartment in the Dahar Al-Ain area. After raiding and searching the apartment, the stolen amount was found, and the three involved parties were arrested based on judicial orders and handed over with the seized items to the relevant official authorities for legal proceedings.

The report explained that despite the arrest of the minor girl who stole her father's money at the instigation of her friend and her husband, and the exceptional effort by the northern directorate, adolescents always have their impulses, hastiness, and are easily swept away by emotions that can harm their future in many situations, perhaps due to a lack of supervision and awareness. It points out that we all in Lebanon share the responsibility for this shortcoming, especially since the girl is an orphan. There must be campaigns that involve all official and non-governmental institutions to spare Lebanese youth from many actions punishable by law, in order to protect their safety and future, as well as the efforts of their families for them.
