U.S. State Department: Reaching Any Settlement Regarding Lebanon is Difficult Without a Ceasefire in Gaza

U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller confirmed that reaching a settlement regarding Lebanon is difficult without a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. During a press conference, Miller stated, "We are trying to prevent the outbreak of a regional war, and Hezbollah must stop threatening and seek a settlement." He affirmed that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken "will discuss ceasefire efforts in Gaza with Israeli officials."

He noted that "Blinken will talk today with the Israeli delegation about the situation at the border with Lebanon," emphasizing that "reaching an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza will contribute to reducing escalation at the Israel-Lebanon border." Miller added, "We have made clear our desire for a diplomatic solution to the current conflict, and we do not want to see escalation at the Israel-Lebanon border."

In another context, the U.S. State Department considers the possibility of Russia supplying weapons to North Korea to be "extremely concerning."
