No President Until the War in Gaza Ends?

Deputy Bilal al-Hachimi stated in an interview with the Al-Anbaa electronic newspaper that Lourdain "will try to emphasize France's role and its supportive position towards Lebanon by working on the election of a president and separating the southern front from Gaza. However, as long as the Shiite duo remains committed to supporting former Minister Sleiman Frangieh and Secretary-General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah continues to insist on the ongoing war linked to Gaza, this implies that there will be no election of a president until the war in Gaza concludes." In the same context, Deputy Nazeer Metta said: "Regardless of whether Lourdain has a new initiative or not, we as Lebanese should thank France and the international community for their interest in the presidential election issue, as there are forces inside wanting to tie the presidential file to the war in Gaza." He wished that "the Shiite duo would take a step forward in this regard to resolve the matter, as they still insist on a president who protects the resistance and turns Lebanon into a state subordinate to Iran, to the point that they have made us forget Lebanon's real problem, which is the economic crisis we have been struggling with for five years. We need to elect a president as soon as possible to set Lebanon on the right track and start addressing the economic crisis before anything else."
