Murad Electricity Services Company, which provides services for the Electricité du Liban in the South, announced that on January 1st, its main network supplying the Hula exit, benefiting the villages of Hula, Mays al-Jabal, Muhaybib, and Blida, was targeted by Israeli bombardment. Consequently, our technical teams went to assess the damage and repair the disruption caused by the attack on the following day. However, it became clear that the damages were severe and required heavy equipment and time for repairs and restoration of electricity supply.
After coordinating with the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL, our company obtained security permission and approval to carry out repair work on January 4th. While our team was en route for maintenance, the mentioned area was shelled again, and upon the request of the Lebanese Army, the scheduled mission was canceled, preventing the specialized teams from performing maintenance tasks.
The company clarified in a statement that following this, we requested from the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL again to grant permission and approval for our technical teams to proceed to the specified area. Indeed, we received the necessary approval on Sunday, January 7th. While some employees were working on the repairs, they were shelled by Israeli artillery, despite the presence of UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army patrols. Divine providence prevented any injuries, and the damages were limited to material losses.
The company pointed out that since the onset of the brutal Israeli assaults on our beloved homeland and precious South, its technical teams have been tirelessly working to repair the network under the supervision of Electricité du Liban, without negligence, oversight, or discrimination, ensuring the safety of its employees in full coordination with security forces and UNIFIL.
They expressed astonishment at "the inaccurate statements that are not based on any facts," asserting that they will continue to fulfill their duties and responsibilities from the standpoint of moral, national, and legal responsibility to support our people and stand by them in difficult circumstances, with the assurance, first and foremost, of the safety of their employees and their return to their families in good health and safety.
