Murder Inside Home in Qbayat Followed by Theft of Money

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division announced that "as part of the daily monitoring conducted by the Internal Security Forces to reduce crimes in various Lebanese regions and arrest those involved, information was received by the Halba Judicial Detachment of the Judicial Police Unit regarding the murder of the victim (T. A.) inside his home in the Qbayat area. Consequently, the patrols of the detachment began their investigations to identify the murderer, where suspicion fell on a person named: D. Sh. (born in 1972, Lebanese). On 03-01-2024, two hours after the discovery of the crime, the suspect was arrested despite his attempt to flee. During the investigation, he initially denied any connection to the crime, but after being confronted with evidence of his involvement, he confessed that he murdered (T. A.) at 17:00 on 02-01-2024 using a hammer and a metal tool, and he disposed of the tools in the town of Bzebdine. He also burned the clothes he was wearing during the crime and stole an amount of money totaling $17,000 from a safe in the victim's home. The crime tools were recovered after he indicated their location. The arrested individual, along with the seized items, was handed over to the competent judiciary based on his reference."
