A joint force from the Popular Mobilization Forces and the army conducted a security operation in the Karma Island, east of Anbar province. According to a statement from the Popular Mobilization Media, "the operation, which involved intelligence units from the Popular Mobilization Forces and Anbar Counter-Terrorism, resulted in the searching of areas (Al-Malali, Al-Bu Dulf, Al-Bu Ghudban, Al-Bu Ramh, and Al-Hamra camp)." It was clarified that "the operation is part of securing the area of responsibility east of Anbar and preventing the exploitation of (Karma Island) by remnants of the terrorist group ISIS to move between Anbar and Salah ad-Din provinces."
