"Smart Cameras" to Monitor Streets of Iraq!

Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shimmari confirmed today, Saturday, his intention to install smart cameras in all areas of the country, while also indicating the implementation of a series of measures to develop traffic systems in Iraq.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, "The Ministry of Interior held a central celebration on the occasion of Traffic Week, attended by Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shimmari, along with a number of leaders and officers."

During his speech on this occasion, the Interior Minister emphasized "support for the longstanding traffic department," pointing out that "the Ministry of Interior has taken numerous measures to develop traffic systems aimed at reaching a comprehensive traffic system that meets global standards, including the installation of radars and smart signals that have contributed to reducing congestion and traffic accidents," stressing that adherence to traffic regulations is very important.

The minister praised "the efforts of traffic police personnel who work around the clock and in various challenging weather conditions," directing "an increase in field efforts and showing full respect for citizens on the streets, while building a traffic culture and enforcing the law."

The minister affirmed the "intention to install smart cameras in all areas of the country to help alleviate traffic congestion and reduce violations."

In another point, he stressed the "necessity of strict accountability for any officer or member found guilty of any case of extortion, stating that we must establish a strong relationship based on mutual respect between traffic personnel and citizens, and not allow any form of extortion against the citizens," while simultaneously directing "attention to new personnel," describing them as "the future of Iraq," and reaffirming the "enforcement of the law."
