Jordan's King to Guterres: Doubling Humanitarian Aid for Gaza

Jordanian King Abdullah II and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres discussed the pivotal role of UN organizations in the humanitarian response to the tragic conditions facing the people of Gaza. Abdullah emphasized during the meeting the "necessity of exerting maximum efforts to double humanitarian aid for Gaza and ensure its delivery without obstruction." He stressed the "urgent need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza to protect innocent civilians and work towards a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution." The meeting also addressed the "importance of continuing support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to enable it to carry out its humanitarian missions within the framework of its UN mandate."
