Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty addressed the escalation in southern Lebanon during a press conference held today, Wednesday, with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi in Cairo. He stated, "We are closely monitoring the extremely dangerous escalation carried out by the Israeli side on the northern front and the aggression on Lebanon," and noted that "the roots of the escalation lie in the Israeli aggression on Gaza. Thus, the return of calm to the region, whether in the Red Sea or Lebanon, will only be achieved by stopping Israel's aggression on Gaza." He emphasized that his country "clearly and absolutely supports the security and stability of Lebanon and the necessity of preserving its sovereignty, especially in light of the challenges faced by the Lebanese people." He mentioned that he has conducted intensive communications with his Arab and Western counterparts, including the foreign ministers of the United States and the United Kingdom and the European Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, to warn about the consequences of reckless escalation and what it could lead to in terms of destabilization in the region. Abdel Aty expressed skepticism about "the ability of security and military solutions to provide security for any party, referring to Israel," arguing that "the solution lies in implementing the two-state solution and ensuring the rights of the Palestinian people to achieve peace and stability in the region."
