Arrest of House Thieves in Majdalia

The Directorate General of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "On August 23, 2023, a citizen reported unknown individuals for forcibly entering his house located in the Majdalia area - Zgharta, stealing approximately 90,000 US dollars, 200 million Lebanese pounds, and a quantity of jewelry before fleeing to an unknown location. Immediately, the specialized units of the Internal Security Forces initiated field and investigative procedures to identify the individuals involved in the theft and apprehend them. As a result of intensive investigations and inquiries, the Information Division managed to identify the two perpetrators, namely: M.Z. (born in 1993, Syrian) and H.A. (born in 1984, Lebanese). On August 30 and 31, 2023, the division's patrols were able to arrest them in the Tabbaneh area.

During interrogation, the first confessed to carrying out the theft in collaboration with (A.K., born in 1994, Lebanese) and that he shared the stolen amount with the latter and (H.A.), who was aware of the operation. He added that he spent part of his share to buy a Honda CRV car, two mobile phones, and a gold ring, and hid the remaining amount in his family's home. The second individual stated that he was aware of the theft and that his share amounted to 4,000 US dollars and five million Lebanese pounds, and he spent part of it while hiding the other part in his home.

A.K. was arrested, and during interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the theft, spent part of the money, and hid the rest in his shop. As for the jewelry, he threw it into the river, believing it to be fake.

During searches of the residences of the mentioned individuals and the third person's shop, an amount of 25,700 US dollars, a gold ring, and two mobile phones were seized. The seized items were handed over to the complainant, and legal proceedings were initiated against them, and they were referred to the appropriate authority based on judicial instructions."
