The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the attacks by Israeli settlers on the offices of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the capital, Jerusalem, according to "Wafa." It considered this "assault part of the systematic and widespread crimes of the Israeli occupation and its various tools in the genocide it is committing against the Palestinian people, as well as the systematic targeting of institutions that contribute to their resilience and the achievement of their rights, foremost among them the UNRWA, which works tirelessly in the Gaza Strip to protect the Palestinian people from the deliberate starvation imposed by the occupation there, in addition to its vital and central role in all occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem."
The Ministry emphasized that "the systematic assaults by settler militias must be met with strict measures from states and international community institutions, and to continue the efforts that began to place settlers on international terrorism lists and hold them accountable along with the entire system of Israeli colonial occupation, determining punitive measures against these terrorists and war criminals."
It pointed out that "Israeli attacks against UNRWA and its offices, facilities, and staff must cease, and that the international community should hold Israel responsible for the safety and security of the organization and its employees, taking necessary actions to hold it accountable for the destruction and targeting of UNRWA facilities, including those in the Gaza Strip, leading to the deaths of more than 188 of its workers."
The Ministry affirmed "the absolute support of the State of Palestine for the vital work of UNRWA in all its areas of operations, especially in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and that UNRWA cannot be replaced or its work undermined. The Palestinian diplomacy will do everything in its power to mobilize the international community to protect the organization so that it can fulfill its obligations until a just solution for Palestinian refugees is achieved in accordance with Resolution 194, allowing them to return to their homes from which they were displaced."
