Barcelona officials feel reassured about Real Madrid not intervening in their efforts to sign German international Joshua Kimmich, the star of Bayern Munich. Kimmich is among Barcelona's options to strengthen the midfield, as coach Xavi Hernandez has requested the acquisition of a defensive midfielder. According to the Catalan newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Barcelona recognizes that it is unlikely for Real to move for Kimmich, given the presence of coach Carlo Ancelotti, who had a strained relationship with the German player during his tenure at Bayern.
Kimmich previously mentioned that time, stating, "At that time, I wasn't playing much, so I considered leaving the club for a while... but Carlo (Ancelotti) left afterward, and I became a key player again, and we won everything." Kimmich was not among Ancelotti's priorities then, who relied more on other players like Xabi Alonso, Arturo Vidal, Thiago Alcantara, and Javi Martinez.
The Catalan newspaper highlighted that the latest chapter of this strained relationship was evident at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium after the recent match between Real and Bayern (2-1) in the Champions League. The Real Madrid coach commented after the match about the disallowed goal for his team, stating that Kimmich tried to deceive the referee after his contact with Nacho Fernandez, the Real Madrid defender.
