Former Welsh international Craig Bellamy has been appointed as the new coach of his national team, as announced by the local football association on Tuesday. The Welsh association clarified that Bellamy's contract with the national team will extend until 2028. The association reported Bellamy as saying, "I am looking forward to starting my role with our upcoming matches in the UEFA Nations League in September." Bellamy, 44, succeeds Rob Page, who was dismissed after Wales failed to qualify for the ongoing European Championship in Germany. Bellamy, a former striker for Liverpool, Newcastle, and the Welsh national team, served as an assistant to Belgian coach Vincent Kompany at Burnley in the English Premier League last season.
