The Union of Private Educational Institutions announced today, Thursday, that during its regular meeting held in Monot, it addressed the "Israeli assaults occurring on the southern borders of Lebanon that affect other areas and have resulted in casualties among students from both public and private schools." It praised "the efforts of all schools, teachers, and students who have endeavored to complete their programs despite the difficult security and psychological conditions."
The statement emphasized "the importance of conducting the official exams for the general secondary certificate on schedule and at a level befitting our children and our country," affirming "the necessity of granting ninth-grade students an official certificate based on the school results issued by each school."
The statement continued: "While appreciating the meeting held with His Excellency Minister of Education and Higher Education Judge Dr. Abbas Halabi, the Union did not receive enough time for internal deliberations aimed at unifying the vision and presenting proposals based on the existing educational reality."
The Union also commended "the constructive meetings it held with His Excellency Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Mr. Elias Bou Saab, Director General of the National Social Security Fund Dr. Mohammed Korki, and Head of the Teachers' Syndicate Mr. Naamat Mahfoud for the constructive outcomes from these meetings, which secure the welfare of all components of the educational family."
It was decided to "form a special committee to follow up on legal matters with the relevant national authorities regarding education to issue the necessary legislations that ensure the upcoming academic year begins in a positive and consensual atmosphere among the components of the educational family."
Additionally, it was decided, "Given the critical nature of the current phase," to keep its meetings open "to follow up on all educational developments on the national level, contributing to finding appropriate solutions and ensuring that education remains a unifying element for all Lebanese."
