Written Objection and Criminal Complaint from

The administrative board of the Hekmeh Sports Club - Beirut held an extraordinary meeting on April 18, 2024, following the match it had on Thursday against the Sporting Club Beirut. The meeting addressed the complete lack of responsibility from the hosting club and the sportsmanship, which reached a level of physical assault on the team’s players and coaching staff through punching, kicking, and various types of insults and abuses from identifiable individuals.

The club announced in a statement that "the club's management confirms that the protective measures taken during the match were below the required level. Its decision to continue with the match yesterday was made to uphold the club’s principles and history, and in respect of the laws applicable in the Wessal Championship." The statement noted that "the club sent a written objection this morning to the Wessal Championship Administration, requesting all legal actions to be taken and imposing penalties commensurate with the physical and moral damage suffered by the players and coaching staff to prevent the recurrence of such incidents during future matches."

It mentioned that "the club has also filed a criminal complaint this morning based on the directive of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Mount Lebanon against the individual known as Ali Baqi and anyone revealed by the investigation as an actor, instigator, or accomplice in the crimes of assault and intentional harm, threats, and defamation." The club emphasized that it "is committed to all laws and procedures in place in the Wessal Championship and the Lebanon Championship, believing in the necessity of adhering to laws to safeguard the sport of basketball and its future in Lebanon."
