Russia is studying "measures" to contain the "serious threat" posed by NATO, according to Russian news agencies reporting on Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Peskov stated that NATO, which concluded its summit in Washington on Thursday, has now become "fully engaged in the conflict in Ukraine." He added that NATO's plans to accept Ukraine are linked to a desire to defeat Russia, and that NATO's actions will require effective measures from Russia to counter the alliance. Peskov noted that NATO has once again "demonstrated very clearly" the essence of the confrontation alliance. He continued, "We are compelled to analyze the decisions made at the Washington summit on Wednesday, the discussions that took place, and to carefully analyze the text of the adopted declaration." He emphasized, "This is a very serious threat to national security that will force us to take considered, coordinated, and effective measures to contain NATO," without providing details about when or what these measures would entail.
