An Algerian groom sparked a buzz on social media in Algeria after gifting his wife a "star in the sky" during their wedding ceremony. A video shared on the platform "X" shows the groom speaking to guests in a banquet hall as he presents his wife with a document proving he purchased a "star from the sky" and registered it in her name.
The groom stated, "After thinking carefully about a special gift worthy of my bride, I decided to buy a star from the sky and register it in her name." Local media sources reported that the groom reached out to the international space agency "NASA" to purchase the "star in the sky" and registered it in the name of his wife, "Imane," as a wedding gift.
Social media users reacted to the Algerian groom's gesture, with some expressing admiration for the unique gift while others commented humorously and questioned the concept. One user on the "X" platform wrote about the topic: "One of the new marriage conditions in Algeria... asking for happiness along with a star in the sky."
A Facebook page called "Awlad Adi" remarked, "For me, an Algerian groom buying a star for his bride is a very beautiful and strange event; he wanted to express his love, so he gifted her a 'star' along with the purchase document." Another user, Zeinab Taza, also expressed surprise on Facebook, stating, "The Algerian groom who bought a star for his wife in her name, Khalifa Imane, with the documents costing 70 million, located in Paris... a time of wonders."
Buying a star in the sky is not a new concept, as one can acquire a star by contacting companies that offer this service and receive an electronic ownership document, but it remains symbolic in any case.
