The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced today, Wednesday, a decrease in various crime rates in the country during the current year compared to last year. Ministry spokesperson Colonel Muqdad Al-Moussawi, in a statement to "Baghdad Today," noted that "there is a significant and noticeable drop in the percentage of different crimes in Iraq this year, with a substantial difference compared to last year." He indicated that "the decrease is a result of security and intelligence efforts, revealing the perpetrators of these crimes and arresting them within a very short period, which has contributed to the decline in crime rates." He added that "the ministry anticipates that the decrease in crime rates will continue in the upcoming phases." The Ministry of Interior recorded a 29% decrease in intentional homicide, over 70% in tribal revenge killings, and a 9% decrease in total crimes during the first four months of the current year compared to the same period last year.
