Saudi Space Agency Establishes Global Center Specialized in Space Fields

Today, Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Space Agency, signed an agreement with the World Economic Forum to establish the "Future of Space Center" in the Kingdom. This center, the first of its kind, will support the growth of economic, research, and innovative space fields. This announcement was made during a special meeting of the World Economic Forum, hosted in the capital Riyadh under the patronage of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Saudi Space Agency aims, through the "Future of Space Center," to enhance collaboration and the exchange of expertise and knowledge in the field of the global space economy. The center will provide access to the community of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, while the agency will manage and lead the center in collaboration with the World Economic Forum. The center will seek to achieve several objectives, including establishing a global platform to maximize the economic and environmental value of the space sector, developing best practices and regulatory and legislative policies, as well as stimulating technological innovation.

On this occasion, the CEO of the Saudi Space Agency, Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, affirmed that the center is committed to fostering a vibrant, prosperous, and sustainable global space economy by developing principles, expanding knowledge, improving models, and cultivating partnerships, noting that the Kingdom aims to seize the enormous opportunities in space with great responsibility and care through this strategic partnership.

For his part, the CEO of the World Economic Forum, Jeremy Jorgensen, explained that the impact of space on Earth is significant and can be observed in the valuable services that space technologies provide to humanity, such as monitoring the effects of climate change and enhancing human communication through satellites. He added that the inclusion of the center into the C4IR network recognizes the importance of addressing diverse subjects such as technological innovation in space, policies, regulation, and sustainability.

It is noteworthy that the center will work alongside the existing Fourth Industrial Revolution Center in the Kingdom, "C4IR," to enhance the Saudi Vision 2030, which represents a roadmap for economic diversification and building an exceptional future across all levels, alongside improving the quality of life.
