A powerful left-footed strike from Marcel Sabitzer secured a thrilling 3-2 victory for the Austria national team over the Netherlands, allowing them to advance to the round of 16 as the leaders of Group D in the 2024 UEFA European Championship. The losing team qualified for the knockout stage as one of the four best third-placed teams on Tuesday. Austria topped the group with six points, while France finished second with five points after a 1-1 draw with Poland. The Netherlands came in third with four points, and Poland finished last in the group with one point.
Austria took the lead in the sixth minute through a self-goal by Donyell Malen.
