A video clip showed the arrest of one of the attackers involved in the assault on the "Crocus City" concert hall in Moscow, after he attempted to hide by climbing a tree in a forest in the Bryansk border region. According to footage recorded by a member of the Russian security forces who took part in the arrest, Dalerjon Mirzoev was seen in one of the trees, surrounded by security forces. After jumping in an attempt to escape, he was captured, and immediately questioned about his full name and which group he worked for, followed by a search and being handcuffed.
Mirzoev, 32 years old and a citizen of Tajikistan with four minor children, confessed to all allegations related to the deadly attack on the Russian capital, according to the Moscow City Court's press service. He had a temporary residency permit for three months in Novosibirsk, Russia. The court ordered the pretrial detention of four individuals suspected of carrying out the attack on a concert hall in the suburbs of the Russian capital, which resulted in 137 deaths.
The Basmanny Court in Moscow stated that the four men are charged with "terrorism" and face life imprisonment. Their pretrial detention, scheduled until May 22, may be extended as they await trial, the date of which has not yet been set.
It is worth noting that the deadly attack, which involved live shooting at civilians and firebombing through detonating explosives in the "Crocus City" building prior to a concert by the famous Russian rock band "Piknik," resulted in the deaths of more than 137 people and injuries to another 180 in an unconfirmed toll. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, which followed a warning from the U.S. embassy in Russia two weeks earlier about "extremists" having imminent plans to launch an attack in Moscow.
