The Kuwaiti Cabinet has issued new decisions regarding the revocation of citizenship from 12 individuals, some of whom acquired it by establishment, while others through naturalization. A knowledgeable source informed the newspaper "Al-Qabas" that work is ongoing in the citizenship revocation file, with many cases nearing completion that will be presented to the Cabinet for approval.
The source revealed that the Ministry of Interior received 631 reports of citizenship fraud during a span of 75 days, from March 15 to the end of May 2024. The source noted that among the notable cases are those of Asian, Arab, and African female expatriates who obtained exemptions and naturalized after marrying Kuwaiti men, only to divorce within a month.
The source reiterated that any revocation of citizenship is subject to rigorous scrutiny before any action is taken by the Higher Citizenship Committee, which operates within objective frameworks and examines files thoroughly before making any decisions.
