The committee of employees, contractors, and workers of the Beirut Governmental University Hospital announced in a statement an open strike in all sections of the hospital (excluding the outpatient department and the dialysis unit), starting on Monday, June 24, 2024, with a gathering at 9:30 AM inside the hospital. They pointed out that "as a result of the indifference from the administration regarding the fate of the Beirut Governmental University Hospital, which is inevitably heading towards collapse soon if this unprecedented administrative slackness continues, and in light of the absence of clear executive plans to revive the hospital, this is naturally reflected in the performance of the largest governmental hospital in Lebanon and the volume of service it provides, as well as on the future of its workers who have become begging for their salaries despite their commitment to full-time shifts around the clock."
