U.S. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby announced on Thursday that the White House is considering the idea of ceasefire periods in the conflict between Israel and Hamas to assist civilians in Gaza, and is working with Israel to reduce human losses. He added in a press conference, "What we are trying to do is explore the idea of ceasefire periods that may be necessary to continue bringing in aid and working to safely evacuate people, including hostages." He continued, "We are concerned about the attacks launched by Hezbollah on Israeli forces with gunfire exchanges and rising violence along the Lebanese border, but there is no indication that the Iran-backed group is ready to 'fully enter' the conflict."
