BAGHDAD AIRPORT MANAGEMENT VIOLATES GOVERNMENT DIRECTIVES

Informed sources revealed today, Wednesday, that the management of Baghdad International Airport has ignored previous government directives regarding the facilitation of entry for holders of "Green Zone Cards" into the airport. The sources stated in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that the management of Baghdad International Airport violated earlier instructions issued by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani concerning the entry of Green Zone cardholders into Baghdad Airport, away from the known bureaucracy in some state institutions. They pointed out that the new airport director, who was recently appointed, acted contrary to the Prime Minister's directives in a "capricious manner" in dealing with these reformative decisions adopted by al-Sudani's government by obstructing cardholders.

They added that "the ongoing violations of government decisions constitute leniency and a breach of all authorities issued by higher authorities," indicating that "the main purpose of these delays and procrastinations is to force cardholders to turn to certain private companies to achieve narrow gains for them." It was noted that there is "selectivity in treatment, as some are allowed to bring in what they wish while the law is applied to others."

The sources also called on the Prime Minister to "intervene and investigate the violations of decisions and hold accountable those responsible for such individual and improvisational actions that serve known parties." It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani previously announced the opening of the first phase of the road leading to the airport, which includes allowing entry for passenger vehicles carrying travel tickets, while the second phase, which has yet to be announced, will allow vehicles whose owners intend to pick up travelers.
