Egypt: Photos Circulate of a Whale on Al-Hamam Beach

Photos and posts have circulated on social media among visitors to Al-Hamam beach, located west of the Egyptian governorate of Alexandria, regarding the possible appearance of a "whale or shark" on the beach, warning others to be cautious. In this context, Abeer Al-Saharti, Deputy Head of the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries for Technical Affairs in Alexandria, commented on the incident, stating that she formed a scientific team comprised of various specialists to examine and monitor strange marine creatures at a tourist village at kilometer 67 in Al-Hamam city. She mentioned in a press statement that according to preliminary information and descriptions from the village officials and the video sent to the institute, it is possible that the marine creatures observed in the beach waters are a whale or a shark, and they are live creatures, not dead. She added that the nature of the marine creatures that appeared in the village will be determined after the scientific team's official mission from the institute is completed.
