The Lebanese Army Command - Directorate of Guidance announced that "as a result of the security measures implemented by army units in various Lebanese regions during June 2024, 588 individuals of different nationalities were arrested for involvement in multiple crimes and offenses, including drug trafficking, theft, smuggling, possession of weapons and prohibited items, wandering within Lebanese territory without legal residency, and driving cars and motorcycles without legal documents." The directive pointed out that "the confiscated items included 75 military weapons of various types, 21 hand grenades, 17 RPG launchers, quantities of light and medium ammunition, several vehicles and motorcycles, in addition to a quantity of drugs and several communication devices and surveillance cameras. Attempts to smuggle approximately 2,200 Syrians across the Lebanese-Syrian border illegally were also thwarted. The detainees, along with the seized items, were handed over to the relevant authorities for further action."
