Hebrew media revealed the identity of an Israeli Prison Service officer who was found dead in his apartment near Ramallah yesterday, Monday. Israeli sources reported that the guard, named Yoahi Avni, aged 40, had received threats from Palestinian prisoners. The body of the guard, who worked at Ofer Prison, showed signs of stab wounds on the neck and was discovered in his home, which had caught fire in the settlement of "Giv'on Hahadasha." The newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" reported that the guard, who was killed violently, was a warden at Ofer Prison and had been mistreated before his death. The Israeli Broadcasting Authority "Makan" stated that the internal security service "Shin Bet" is participating in the investigation, treating it as a murder case and examining all possibilities regarding whether the motive was nationalistic or criminal.
