Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi reviewed during a call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday "the ongoing Egyptian mediation efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire" in Gaza and "the exchange of detainees." Sisi emphasized the importance of "joint international efforts to succeed in the mediation endeavors and deliver humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities, alleviating the harsh conditions faced by the residents of the strip due to the Israeli military operations." The official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency stated that the two presidents agreed on "the importance of intensifying international joint efforts to prevent the escalation of the conflict and the region slipping into a new cycle of unforeseen conflict." They also stressed the "necessity of advancing the two-state solution path that guarantees the establishment of the Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, considering it the optimal path for achieving lasting security and stability in the region," according to the statement.
