Manchester City's Decision Terrifies Premier League Clubs

Premier League clubs have expressed concern over Manchester City's decision to take legal action against the English Premier League, aiming to overturn the financial regulations of the competition. As Manchester City prepares to legally challenge the issue next week, other clubs fear that if the reigning Premier League champions succeed in their arguments, it could eliminate the possibility of smaller clubs competing for the title in the future. One executive from a club, whose identity was not disclosed by the "Daily Mail," stated, "If this case succeeds, what's the point of playing? We will move away from the idea of competing with them."

According to the same newspaper, City joined the other 19 members of the Premier League in a meeting held last Wednesday to discuss the future of the competition, although one source indicated that some clubs may sever ties with the reigning champions if they succeed in repealing the profitability and sustainability laws. Other club executives are trying to maintain a professional atmosphere with Manchester City’s CEO, Ferran Soriano, despite their concerns about their clubs’ ability to secure new sponsors and inject fresh funds if the regulations are abolished.

However, the "Daily Mail" simultaneously reported that Newcastle United does not oppose the removal of Financial Fair Play laws, even though they have not joined City in the legal battle. This comes at a time when Manchester City faces 115 charges of violating financial sustainability rules.
