The Lebanon women's national football team will leave for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this evening to participate in the eighth edition of the West Asia Women's Championship, taking place from February 19 to 29 this year. The delegation includes Rana Nakhle (team director), Wael Gerzaldin (head coach of women's football), Joana Hamza (coach), Ashraf Mahjoub (goalkeeping coach), Meryem Al-Muqaddim (physiotherapist), Rabab Ramadan (administrator), Sara Awali (administrator), and Maroun Mahfoud (media). Additionally, there are 23 players: Clara Khalil, Lamita Al-Deeb, and Marsell Skik in goal; Amna Karima, Eyana Rizqallah, Dima Al-Kasti, Julie Atallah, Carly Harfoush, Lara Bou Hamra, and Waad Raad in defense; Cecile Iskandar, Christina Al-Takla, Natalie Matar, Rana Al-Muqaddam, Stephanie Al-Qazi, Yara Bou Reda, and Zahwa Al-Arabi in midfield; and Angelina Saada, Kristi Maaloof, Cynthia Saleh, Hanin Tamim, Leila Iskandar, and Samira Awad in attack.
The eight participating teams are divided into two groups, with Lebanon placed in Group A alongside the host, Saudi Arabia, Guam, and Jordan, while Group B includes Nepal, Syria, Iraq, and Palestine. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals and then the finals. Lebanon will start its campaign against Guam on February 19, 2024, at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium and will face the home team Saudi Arabia on the 21st and Jordan on the 23rd at the same venue.
