The first flight of Syrian Airlines arrived at King Khalid Airport in Riyadh today, Wednesday, marking the resumption of regular flights after a 12-year suspension. This signifies the return of flights from Damascus International Airport to Saudi Arabia.
In this context, Riyadh Airports Company hosted a celebration at King Khalid Airport, attended by the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ayman Soussan, along with several Saudi officials in the field of air transport.
Soussan confirmed that this event represents good news for both Syrians and Saudis, as it facilitates communication between the two countries and spares citizens the hardships of indirect travel. He noted that it also represents an important development in the relationship between the two nations.
It is worth mentioning that Saudi Arabia severed its diplomatic relations with Syria and closed its embassies in 2012, a year after the onset of the Syrian crisis.
