The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced the following statement: "In the context of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to curb theft operations within the city of Beirut, and after an increase in thefts from cars, information was received by the Beirut Investigation Division on June 17, 2024, about an unknown individual breaking the windows of two cars and stealing contents from them in the Summer area. Immediately, a patrol from the division headed to the mentioned area and managed to apprehend the perpetrator in the act, on a motorcycle without license plates used for executing his operations, after he broke the window of a silver 'Honda CRV' and stole belongings from inside. The suspect is identified as A. N. (born in 1968, Lebanese) who has a history of theft crimes, including thefts from cars. It was also found that he was simultaneously breaking the window of another vehicle, a white 'Dacia,' at the same location and stealing from it. Upon searching him, a key prepared for car theft, various industrial tools, and a car battery were seized. During questioning, he confessed to executing numerous thefts from cars after breaking their windows. Legal measures were taken against him, and he was transferred to the relevant unit for further investigation, based on the judiciary's directive."
