The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned today, Tuesday, the incursion of extremist settlers into the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque and their raising of the Israeli flag within its grounds under the protection of Israeli police. This act, along with obstructing the entry of worshippers to al-Aqsa Mosque, represents a blatant and unacceptable violation of international law and the existing historical and legal status in Jerusalem and its sanctities.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Ambassador Sufyan al-Qudah, emphasized that "the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque/the Noble Sanctuary, in its entirety, is a place of worship solely for Muslims, with no sovereignty for Israel over it or over occupied East Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian sanctities." He called on Israel, as the occupying power, to cease all practices and violations against the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque/the Noble Sanctuary and to respect its sanctity.
Ambassador al-Qudah reiterated, according to a statement from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the management of the Jerusalem Awqaf and al-Aqsa Mosque, which falls under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, "holds exclusive authority over all affairs of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque/the Noble Sanctuary."
