Hebrew media has revealed that Morocco signed an agreement with Israel to purchase a spy satellite from the Israeli aerospace industry, in a deal valued at one billion dollars. The Hebrew site "Calcalist," which specializes in technology news, reported that Morocco will buy a satellite for intelligence purposes from the aerospace manufacturer for approximately one billion dollars. According to reports, Israel and Morocco agreed on the deal at the end of 2023.
Calcalist noted that in the past few days, Amir Peretz, the head of the Israeli aerospace industry, traveled to Morocco via a European country to finalize the deal, which had remained confidential until now. The company, which manufactures some of Israel’s most advanced missile defense systems and drones, stated that the deal is scheduled to be implemented over five years.
Moroccan news sites "Le Desk" and "Le 360 Reported" cited Israeli sources in Rabat indicating that the contract includes providing the "Ofek 13" spy satellite, which will replace two satellites produced by "Airbus" and "Thales." In 2021, Israel and Morocco acknowledged a defense agreement covering intelligence and cooperation in military industries and procurement.
