The members of the UN Security Council strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Dagestan, Russia, which resulted in the deaths of at least 21 individuals, including 16 police officers, and left others injured. In a press statement issued today, the council members expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the families of all the victims, including the law enforcement officials who lost their lives while on duty, as well as to the government and people of the Russian Federation. The Security Council members reiterated that terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, represents one of the most serious threats to international peace and security. They emphasized the need to hold accountable the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and supporters of these reprehensible terrorist acts and to bring them to justice. The statement urged all UN member states to cooperate effectively with the Russian government and all other relevant authorities in this regard, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions.
