Russia Comments on the Attempted Assassination of Trump

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump, reminding her previous warnings about a campaign of incitement against Trump launched by his Democratic opponents. Zakharova wrote on Telegram this morning: "Trump has been the target of an assassination attempt. Exactly two months ago, I drew attention to the fact that in the United States, they literally encourage incitement to hatred against political opponents." She provided examples of the American tradition of assassinations and attempts on the lives of presidents and presidential candidates. Zakharova attached a link to a text she published on May 13, where she pointed out the hypocrisy of Westerners who advocate for democracy, the rule of law, and human rights, as some in the United States openly express a desire to kill presidential candidate Donald Trump. She emphasized that such statements do not come from social media but from official media outlets and Democratic politicians.
