A 42-year-old Egyptian man committed suicide inside the Torre del Gallo prison in southern Milan, Italy, after being accused of sexually assaulting an elderly woman. The man, identified as "A.F.", took his own life in prison following his arrest for sexually assaulting and torturing an 89-year-old woman with cognitive impairment for over an hour at the entrance of her home in Sesto San Giovanni.
Italian law enforcement clarified that he was summoned and arrested on charges of sexual assault and theft, and he was set to be brought to trial at the Monza Court regarding the allegations against him. The prosecutor's office in Monza requested an immediate ruling after analyzing biological samples collected by the police at the scene of the attack, which matched the defendant's DNA.
Prosecutor reports indicated that the incident began when the victim went to a pharmacy shortly before the end of September to purchase medication. After making her purchase, she encountered the young Egyptian man, who offered to accompany her home. Upon their arrival, she was shocked by his sexual assault, physical attack, and theft of her money.
