"Jordan Summit" Calls for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza

The heads of the "Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference in Gaza," which was held in Jordan on Tuesday, called for an "immediate and permanent" ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the unconditional and immediate release of "all hostages and detainees," and an increase in aid to the Palestinian territory.

The final statement of the conference demanded an end to the ongoing operation in Rafah, ensuring the necessary conditions for the safe and dignified return of displaced Palestinians in Gaza, and providing the necessary support, sustainable, transparent, and long-term financing to enable "UNRWA" to fulfill its duties.

The conference leaders expressed their deep concerns regarding the deteriorating situation in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and condemned all unilateral actions, including settlement activities that undermine the two-state solution. The final statement emphasized the need to "intensify diplomatic efforts to end the Israeli occupation of the occupied Palestinian territories, and to launch a credible and irreversible path to implement the two-state solution, leading to the declaration of a geographically connected, viable, and sovereign Palestinian state."

The conference, held on the shores of the Dead Sea, 50 kilometers west of the capital Amman, was organized at the invitation of Jordan's King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
