South Korean Football Association Files Complaint with FIFA Over Alleged Racist Remarks

The South Korean Football Association has officially lodged a complaint with FIFA regarding an alleged racist insult directed at international striker Hee-chan Hwang, who plays for English club Wolverhampton, although the Italian club Como has denied these allegations. The 28-year-old striker condemned the alleged racist remarks made by a Como player during a pre-season match in Spain, referring to him as "Jackie Chan," a Hong Kong movie star known for his martial arts films.

The South Korean FA stated that it sent an official letter to FIFA expressing "grave concern over the racist actions faced by Hee-chan Hwang." The association called for necessary measures to "eliminate racism in football," as mentioned by FIFA on its official account on X (formerly Twitter).

In a message on Instagram earlier this week, Hwang stated that the coaching staff and teammates indicated they would leave the pitch with him "if necessary" following the alleged insult. He added that "racism is unacceptable in sports and in all aspects of life."
