The Chinese Marine Corps has acquired new reconnaissance drones that resemble real birds. One of the videos circulated on the internet shows training exercises of one of the Marine units using these drones, demonstrating how the aircraft flew smoothly and flapped its wings, appearing from a distance as if it were a real bird. The type and specifications of these drones have not been reported, but they were showcased to illustrate their availability for the Chinese military. China has been developing such drones for years; in 2018, some sources indicated that the Chinese military was developing bird-shaped drones under a government program codenamed "Dove."
