Lebanese Foreign Minister in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, revealed that "the United States requested the government to rein in Hezbollah," pointing out that "Lebanon has asked the United States to urge Israel to exercise restraint amid recent tensions." He stated, "A major attack by Israel would lead to a regional war." The Foreign Minister reported that "we will ask Hezbollah to practice restraint and now is not the time for devastation." He indicated that "an international committee should be formed to investigate the source of the attack on Majdal Shams in the Golan," adding, "we can collaborate with UNIFIL to identify the source of the attack." He continued: "We ask Israel to exercise restraint and not to escalate the war, as well as to cease the Gaza war."
