Israeli airstrikes continue on the Gaza Strip, both in the north and south, while the humanitarian suffering experienced by residents, who are homeless after their houses were destroyed, persists. There are no signs of a forthcoming ceasefire. Palestinian media reported today, Tuesday, that the death toll from Israeli shelling on several homes in eastern Rafah in southern Gaza has risen to 29. "Palestine TV" stated on its Telegram account that among the dead is one journalist.
This comes as the Israeli army announced in a statement that two soldiers were killed in northern Gaza. The "Times of Israel" reported yesterday that the army announced the deaths of seven soldiers in the ongoing battles in the sector, raising the number of Israeli army casualties since the onset of ground operations in the area to 129.
An official from the World Health Organization (WHO) mentioned that a hospital in northern Gaza that was attacked by Israeli forces has ceased operations, and its patients, including children, were evacuated, further endangering the already collapsing health services in the strip.
Authorities in Gaza stated that last week, Israeli forces used a bulldozer to destroy the area surrounding Kamal Adwan Hospital, forcing displaced persons to leave. Israel claimed that the hospital was being used by Hamas fighters. The WHO has urgently sought information regarding the hospital. Most hospitals in Gaza have stopped functioning due to the war, with health services in northern Gaza being the most impacted.
Gaza is home to 2.3 million people, the majority of whom have been displaced from their homes due to Israel's attack following Hamas's incursion on October 7.
