Egypt Expresses Serious Concerns Over Increasing Escalation in the Region

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty expressed his country's "serious concerns regarding the dangerously increasing pace of escalation in the region" during a phone call with his Lebanese counterpart Abdullah Bou Habib on Saturday. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated in a press release that Abdel Atty affirmed Egypt's support for Lebanon in facing the surrounding threats.

In a related context, the Egyptian government reported that Abdel Atty, in a phone call with Iranian Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani, mentioned that the latest developments in the region threaten its stability. Abdel Atty noted: "The recent developments in the region are unprecedented and highly dangerous, warning of an expansion of the conflict that threatens the stability of the countries in the region and the interests of their peoples."
